How do I use BooksforGood?
BooksforGood operates just like any other online marketplace! Here's a step-by-step guide to help:
Step 1: Log on to booksforgood.org on Monday, July 23rd and create a free account by selecting “Create Account” at the top of the screen. (If you already have an account, simply log in using your normal credentials.) You will need to have an account to select a pick-up option, so don't skip this step!
Step 2: Fill up your cart with the titles you want. Sort by title, author, price, or ISBN.
Step 3: To Checkout, hover your mouse over the Shopping Cart at the top and click “Checkout.”
Step 4: At Checkout, use coupon code 41off to receive 41% off your entire purchase on Monday. Then, select your delivery method. For pick up, select “Pick Up at Friends’ Place Bookstore.” If you prefer to let us ship your order to you, select your preferred shipping method instead. If you select "Pick Up," your books will be available a few days after you place your order. You will receive an email stating when your books are ready for pickup.
When is the next brick-and-mortar book sale?
The Fall Book Sale will take place in October at a location yet to be determined. There will be a Members-Only Preview Sale prior to the regular sale.
When does this sale start and how late can I shop?
You can shop anytime from the comfort of your own home between 12:01 a.m. Monday morning and 11:59 p.m. Monday evening.
Where do I pick up my order?
Once you've received an email that your books are ready for pickup, you may head to the Friends' Place Bookstore to do so. Be sure to consult the store's hours of operation before going.
How will I know that my order is ready for pick-up?
You will receive a confirmation email from us that your order has been processed, pulled and available for pick-up.
Can someone else pick up my order?
Yes! Please advise him or her to bring a copy of the confirmation email from your purchase, either in print or on a mobile phone.
Why can't you hold book sales in your warehouse anymore?
Our warehouse isn't zoned for retail, and the Fire Marshal himself has asked us to cease allowing members of the public inside to shop.
What is in the warehouse now?
The warehouse is still full of books and it operates like a regular warehouse where we process the wonderful volumes that are donated to us. All of the shelves are used to store books that are listed online, generally more than 200,000+ books at any given time. Within the warehouse, they are physically organized by date of receipt, NOT by author, genre or subject matter.
We created BooksforGood.org so that we had a marketplace all our own with minimal fees where we could offer coupon codes and local pick-up options to you, our faithful book-buying, library-loving supporters. This way, more of your dollar spent goes towards supporting our public libraries. The prices are competitive, and we sell on behalf of Friends of Libraries across the state in addition to some of your other favorite local nonprofits.
How are the books priced?
The price of each book is unique to the title based on the market. We have books priced at 99¢ on up to hundreds of dollars for some of our antique, rare and collectible listings. Nearly 50,000 of them are priced at $2 or less, the price point to which many of you are accustomed.
