We have a lot to celebrate for National Friends of Libraries Week.

In nearly 50 years of service, the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library has contributed millions of dollars in support for programs and services at Phoenix's public libraries and has been an active leader in some of the most important library and literacy advocacy campaigns in our city's history.

Moreover, our BookStorm program just turned 10 years old, celebrating more than 1 million books donated to educators in every corner of our Phoenix's communities.

This year, in honor of National Friends of Libraries Week, we're opening the chapter on our Friends Read Freely campaign, promoting the freedom to read. Join us all week, and into the fall, to show your support!

Schedule of Events

Saturday, October 18: 2025 Annual Meeting
10:30 am - 12:30pm
South Mountain Community Library

Friends members are invited to join us for our Annual Meeting, featuring guest speaker Bill Konigsberg, the award-winning author of seven young adult novels and recipient of the PEN Center USA Literary Award, Stonewall Book Award, Sid Fleischman Award for Humor, and the Lambda Literary Award. In 2018, The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)’s Assembly on Literature for Adolescents (ALAN) established the Bill Konigsberg Award for Acts and Activism for Equity and Inclusion through Young Adult Literature.  Konigsberg, whose books have appeared on several “banned books” lists, will join us to discuss his work both as an author and as a proponent of reading freely.
